My love affair

My love affair with the state of Virginia was not love at first sight, see I was accustomed to living in Louisiana surrounded by family, friends and warm weather. In 2004 Uncle Sam decided that it was time for my family to relocate and like the Beverly Hillbillies we did just that. We arrived in Newport News, Virginia as winter was leaving and spring was taking her ole sweet time arriving. We reported to Langley Air Force Base billeting without coats or jackets because hey this is the south. NOT! Needless to say I was not happy with my husband or the military at this point.
Fast forward six years later and I must truly say I love living on the peninsula. I have had the opportunity to be a part of the most amazing and innovative Real Estate family at Liz Moore and Associates in Newport News, VA. I get to take advantage of the various parks, beaches, historical sites and my favorite, restaurants. The food is amazing here and my favorite is , you guessed it crab cakes. As you can tell by now I am here to stay, this is Home Sweet Home. Well, that’s all for now so until I blog again feel free to catch me on my new obsession twitter @JustHerNest or Facebook: JustHerNest
Good Sunday morning, I am taking advantage of the stillness in my home to get my blogs under control. I woke this morning excited about blogging, yes I am a late bloomer. I am trying this post from my phone so wish me luck.

Living on the Virginia Peninsula

Living and loving life in Virginia is such a gift. This post is short, but I wanted to share a few of my favorite photos that I have taken in the past few months. My locations vary from Newport News, Virginia, Hampton, Virginia and even down at historical Ft. Monroe.

As 2010 has come to a close I have decided to change my eating habits for 2011. My first change is to consistently shop at the Ft. Eustis Commissary, located in Newport News, Va. The commissary is only open to active duty military, retirees and their families. Ft Eustis commissary provides services to members at Langley AFB, Yorktown Naval station as well as the local retirement community.
Imagine being able to jump start 2011 with the consumption of fresher produce at a fraction of the price, minus the sales tax. Here's to a healthier body and mind in 2011.
The Ft.Eustis commissary is located at 13th & Lee Blvd, Ft. Eustis, Virginia. 23604
